DAAP Media Player enables users to stream music from a DAAP share, compatible with various platforms like mt-daapd (firefly), Rhythmbox, forked-daapd, tangerine, most NAS devices like FreeNAS and QNAP servers, as well as older versions of iTunes.

DAAP Media Player utilizes a proprietary protocol similar to HTTP developed by Apple for iTunes music sharing. While still compatible with modern versions of iTunes, the application caters to the computer community's need for streaming music by reverse engineering an older version of this protocol specifically for Android devices.

Permissions:

• INTERNET - required for connecting to DAAP servers
• WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE - permission needed to save songs to the SD card
• READ_PHONE_STATE - allows pausing music during incoming phone calls
• CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE - essential for listening to local servers
• ACCESS_WIFI_STATE - used to determine whether to listen on local servers or not.
